Mandoline – Flared flat hooves out of control

Mandoline is a 15 year old heavy warmblood mare. Her problems arose as her previous farrier left. His successors couldn't handle Mandolines hooves. The hooves begann to give way to the ground, more and more cracks started showing, the heels started to disappear underneath the hooves; Mandolines walk had gotten clammy and it was feared wether the deep digital flexor tendon caused the problems.

In this quite desperate situation the owners decided to give it a try with a Hooforthopaedic.

Mandoline had very thin walls, which deformed easily under her weight. In a short period of time the Orthopaedic hoof treatment had a positive impact and Mandoline could walk at ease again. The horn had gained stabilty and the deformities became less. In the spring of 2011 Mandoline was seeded again. Her hooves adjusted adequately to the growing weight. In March 2012 Mandoline gave birth to a pretty and healthy filly.
